Job summary

Cosentini Associates, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Chicago team on a hybrid basis. You will develop system concepts, design drawings, and coordinate with architects, owners, and engineers throughout project lifecycles.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in mechanical engineering, 3+ years in HVAC design for commercial or healthcare facilities, and familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design of HVAC systems for commercial, institutional and healthcare facilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards
  • Strong technical, communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • PE registration is highly preferred, or EIT with Illinois PE path
  • Project and client relationship management experience is highly desired
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate system concepts and options to determine best design and engineering solution for each project based upon project scope
  • Develop design drawings and specifications of high- performance mechanical systems for buildings including preparation of all engineering calculations, equipment selection and layout throughout life of the project
  • Coordinate with engineers and designers in day to day engineering task
  • Attend meetings with architects, owners and building managers
  • Interface with clients and architect to discuss changes to designs and/or specifications
  • Preparing basis-of-design descriptions, responses to client comments, technical memorandums, and other project-related documentation
  • Coordinate with other design team members including architect and structural engineers to ensure mechanical systems are integrated with all trades
  • Work with leadership to manage design manpower budget and update budget to reflect revisions or changes in scope
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report health and safety incidents and concerns
  • Additional duties as required

Your Role:

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $80,000 – $140,000/yr
