Job summary

Cosentini Associates, a Tetra Tech company, seeks a Mechanical Engineer (Mid-Level) for our Hybrid Boston, MA team. You will design high-performance HVAC systems, develop concepts, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and owners on project delivery.

You have a Mechanical Engineering degree, 3+ years HVAC design experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit. PE or EIT with MA eligibility is preferred, with LEED AP BD+C a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required.
• Minimum of 3 years HVAC design experience for facilities.
• Knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
• Proficient AutoCAD and Revit software skills.
• MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• PE or EIT with MA PE eligibility is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate system concepts and options for projects.
• Prepare design drawings and specifications for high-performance mechanical systems.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers on daily tasks.

Your Role:

• Develop and evaluate system concepts and options to determine best design and engineering solution for each project based upon project scope.
• Develop design drawings and specifications of high- performance mechanical systems for buildings including preparation of all engineering calculations, equipment selection and layout throughout life of the project.
• Coordinate with engineers and designers in day to day engineering tasks.
• Attend meetings with architects, owners and building managers.
• Interface with clients and architect to discuss changes to designs and/or specifications
• Preparing basis-of-design descriptions, responses to client comments, technical memorandums, and other project‑related documentation.
• Coordinate with other design team members including architect and structural engineers to ensure mechanical systems are integrated with all trades.
• Work with leadership to manage design manpower budget and update budget to reflect revisions or changes in scope.
• Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
• Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
• Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
• Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design of HVAC systems for commercial, institutional and healthcare facilities.
• Comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
• Strong technical skills, communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
• PE registration is highly preferred, or EIT with the ability to obtain a P.E. in Massachusetts.
• LEED AP BD+C accreditation is preferred.
• Project and client relationship management experience is highly desired.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $85,000 – $115,000/yr
