Job summary

Portland Community College is seeking a Testing Assistant to provide CASAS and GED testing for adults in custody at the Columbia River Correctional Institution near Portland. You will proctor tests, ensure accommodations, and support student services in a corrections setting.

Responsibilities include maintaining testing records, escalating issues as needed, and performing related duties within the Corrections Education team. A high school diploma and one year of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent. One year of post-secondary coursework in a relevant field and one year of experience working in an administrative or other similar environment is required.
• Experience performing the duties of the job may substitute for the post-secondary education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Provides CASAS and GED testing for Adults in Custody (AIC) at Columbia River Correctional Institution.
• Provides approved accommodations for students who need additional resources for testing according to the Oregon Department of Corrections Special Education team.
• Proctors make-up testing for students who were unable to take the test at the original scheduled time.
• Maintains records following established guidelines and procedures.
• Escalates issues to Testing Lead, Education Coordinator, or Education Director as appropriate.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

CASAS and GED Testing – The casual Testing Assistant is animportant part of the Corrections Education team, providing CASASand GED test proctoring for adults in custody (AIC) who participatein the education program at Columbia River Correctional (near thePortland airport). Proctoring experience is preferred, but specifictraining is provided.

The Testing Assistant provides front-line services to currentstudents and assists them by providing the necessary materials andparameters in which to complete their test.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work is performed in the corrections classroom setting, where staffand AIC safety and security is the highest priority. Deadlines andinterruptions of workflow are expected and occur on a regular basis.
