Job summary

The Adult Correction Division is seeking a Correctional Sergeant I (S) to supervise subordinate officers in a Medium Custody State Corrections Facility. The role reports to a Lieutenant I and involves ensuring personnel readiness, managing time reports, assignments, and inmate supervision.

Minimum education includes a GED or high school diploma with two years of correctional officer experience or equivalent. Adverse weather duties and state benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
• Must meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302).
• Pass a criminal background check and produce a negative drug screening.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct shift line-up, assign posts, and inspect personnel for fitness.
• Complete, review, and maintain time reports, duty Rosters, leave schedules, and evaluations.
• Account for persons and ensure all equipment is operational.
• Rotate among defined duty assignments within the level of work.
