Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum two years as sworn correctional officer.
• P.O.S.T. certification in good standing.
• Physically fit for duties described.
• No recent disciplinary actions.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises correctional officers and inmates.
• Ensures security and safety of inmates and employees.
• Determines staffing levels for critical post assignments.
• Trains correctional facility personnel and supervises staff.
• Enforces department rules and regulations; recommends efficiency improvements.
• Performs first aid and CPR as required; maintains certification.
• Maintains firearms certification.
• Directs transportation of inmates to court, medical appointments, and other facilities.
• Assigns inmates to work details ensuring appropriate skill matching.
• Reviews incident reports and monitors inmate count procedures.
• Supervises surveillance equipment and mail inspections.
• Oversees routine cleaning and maintenance within the facility.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
