Job summary

The State of Florida is seeking a Correctional Officer Sergeant for the Department of Corrections in Florida. Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Be a citizen of the United States.
• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers and have one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida.
• Must not have received a suspension within the past 12 months.
• Must not have received an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months.
• Must not have received less than a 3.00 rating on a performance evaluation within the past 3 fiscal years.

Responsibilities

• Supervises inmates commensurate with their risk level and manages housing areas.
• Enforces rules and sanitation standards and transports inmates with approved restraints.
• conducts head counts and maintains custody during off-site appointments and within secured perimeter.
• Perform crisis intervention and use approved force or restraints when needed.
• Inspects facilities, conducts searches for contraband, and monitors inmate behavior for safety.
