County of Lancaster seeks a Corrections Sergeant to supervise the correctional officer staff responsible for 24/7 operational security at the Lancaster County Prison. You will coordinate inmate movement, new commitments, and release of inmates while ensuring policy compliance and safety.

The role reports to the shift commander; may assume Shift Commander duties as needed. A high school diploma and supervisory corrections experience are essential alongside required certifications.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Eighteen (18) or more months experience as a Correctional Officer or related field.
• Pre-Employment qualification: complete agility, educational, and psychological testing unless supervisory within Lancaster County Prison.
• Must receive certification in OC, Axon Camera, Taser use, and any other equipment required for supervisory capacity.

Aufgaben

• Supervise staff and activities in a corrections facility housing pre-trial and sentenced inmates.
• Maintain facility security through regular inspections for compliance with regulations and health/safety standards.
• Manage staffing levels, shift coverage, and overtime approvals.
• Ensure staff are trained and follow proper conduct and procedures.
• Review and provide guidance on reported incidents and written reports.
• Oversee inmate movement, new commitments, and releases.
• Prepare and distribute daily and recurring reports.
• Assist with inmate medical and chaplain services as needed.
• Coordinate inmate services programs.
