Job summary

Delaware LLC seeks a Correctional Staff Sergeant to supervise and participate in the discipline and security of posts inside or outside the facility. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, reviewing, coaching, and training, with potential Shift Commander duties pending Warden approval.

The role requires experience in supervision, policy application, and accurate record-keeping, with duties spanning escort, shakedowns, locking systems, and inmate transport.

Qualifications

• Two years as a Correctional Sergeant or four years combined as similar rank.
• Three years implementing institutional rules and procedures.
• Two years preparing and logging complex records and logs in automated systems.
• One year of staff supervision with planning and evaluation duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintains inmate control while escorting individuals or groups.
• Keeps accurate head counts at the post.
• Performs shakedowns of inmates and searches for contraband.
• Operates manual and electronic locking systems.
• Enforces rules and procedures affecting inmate discipline and safety.
• Observes inmate activities to detect threats to security or safety.
• Ensures inmates meet care standards in living areas.
• Custody during transport for court appearances and other appointments.
• Maintains daily logs and routine reports using automated systems.
• May train and care for K-9 units.
• May participate in riot control and pursuit of escapees.
