Job summary

The State of Arkansas Department of Corrections seeks a Corrections Sergeant to oversee Corrections Corporals and Officers, ensuring the safety of inmates and staff within a secure facility. You will supervise daily activities and enforce policy while maintaining order.

You will conduct inspections, respond to emergencies, investigate incidents, prepare detailed reports, and coordinate inmate transport to medical appointments and court appearances, all under state and federal law.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of correctional security or law enforcement experience.
• At least 1 year in a leadership capacity.
• ServSafe certification is acceptable or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct correctional officers, assign and review work.
• Provide training and evaluate performance.
• Ensure safety and security by regular inspections, including searches.
• Enforce policies and procedures among staff and inmates.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents within the facility.
