Job summary

State of Arkansas in Osceola (Northeast Arkansas Community Corrections Center) seeks a Corrections Sergeant to supervise Corrections Officers and Corporals, ensuring the security and safety of inmates and staff.

You will assign work, provide training, conduct inspections, respond to emergencies, prepare incident reports, coordinate inmate transports, and enforce policies while maintaining order and compliance with laws and agency rules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in correctional security or law enforcement.
• At least one year in a leadership capacity.
• Promotion is discretionary.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct activities of correctional officers and review performance.
• Ensure safety and security of facility through inspections and searches.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents within the facility.
• Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports.
• Coordinate inmate transportation to medical appointments, court, and other facilities.
• Provide guidance to staff in handling difficult situations and conflicts.
• Participate in shift briefings and maintain records.
