South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a supervisory position in Columbia. The role involves overseeing security personnel, coordinating training, conducting investigations, and ensuring compliance with safety and security standards.

The incumbent conducts unit briefings, performs counts, and maintains accurate reporting. If the incumbent is absent, they cover the housing lieutenant duties and oversee the housing unit during shifts.

Competenze

• High school diploma plus 18 months in correctional, security, military, or police work.
• A bachelor’s degree may substitute for part of the required experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months.

Mansioni

• Under supervision, supervise the job performance and appearance of security personnel.
• Assist with evaluations, disciplinary requests, counseling, and training of officers.
• Conduct briefings for unit officers.
• Perform routine inspections to ensure duties, safety, sanitation, and security standards are met.
• Investigate alleged misconduct by inmates and employees.
• Assist in conducting all formal and informal counts.
• Inform housing lieutenant of incidents as they occur.
• Write and review reports for accuracy and content.
• Perform duties of housing lieutenant in their absence.
• Assume responsibility for the housing unit during your tour.
