Job summary

Pine County is seeking a Corrections Officer to help maintain a safe and secure jail environment. You will control entrances, supervise inmates, transport to court or medical appointments, and assist with paperwork and daily operations.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to pass a background check, and a valid driver’s license. Preferred qualifications include a degree in law enforcement or criminal justice and/or one year of corrections experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to pass background check; valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field.
• Preferred: one (1) year of experience as a Corrections Officer in a correctional facility or similar setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide jail security by controlling entrances and exits and supervising inmate housing.
• Process arrests and conduct searches, data collection, fingerprinting, and housing assignments.
• Supervise inmates; address questions, grievances, violations; transport to court or appointments.
• Generate and maintain inmate records and reports.
• Conduct random security checks, shakedowns, and perimeter inspections.
• Assist with medication verification, ordering, logging, and inventory control.
