Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; three years in correctional, security, military, or police work with at least one year in a supervisory role.
• A degree in criminal justice or related field may substitute for supervisory experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and direct security staff in a medium/maximum security facility.
• Perform routine unit checks to ensure duties and OSHA standards are met.
• Assist with inmate counts for accuracy and safety.
• Investigate complaints and disputes; arbitrate between inmate population and staff.
