The South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a security supervisor to plan, coordinate, and direct the actions of security staff within a medium security facility. You will oversee custody and control of inmates and ensure safety and order in assigned units.

Responsibilities include conducting routine unit checks, counting inmates, investigating complaints, and arbitrating disputes between inmates and staff. A basic training is required within eight weeks of hire.

Formación

• High school diploma required; a related bachelor’s degree may substitute for the required experience.
• Minimum three years in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one year of supervisory experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months.

Responsabilidades

• Plans, coordinates and directs the actions of the security staff and oversees security, custody and control of inmates in assigned unit(s) of a medium security facility.
• Assumes primary responsibility for security of all buildings and public property.
• Makes routine checks of the units to ensure subordinate staff are performing their duties properly and safely, and that cleanliness and OSHA standards are maintained.
• Assists with all inmates counts for accuracy.
• Investigates complaints and violations; arbitrates disputes among inmate population and correctional staff.

One year of supervisory experience

Strong communication and decision‑mak

Educación

High school diploma (bachelor's degree may substitute for experience)
