Job summary

Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County is seeking an experienced Corrections Supervisor to manage daily operations at the Athens-Clarke County Correctional Institution. The role includes supervising staff, coordinating inmate activities, and ensuring safety and compliance with departmental policy.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years in law enforcement, including supervisory experience, and P.O.S.T. Corrections certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a field related to criminal justice, with three years of law enforcement experience required.
• Two years of supervisory experience required.
• P.O.S.T. Certification in Corrections and good standing.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and evaluates assigned staff; directs work, counsels and disciplines as needed; conducts performance appraisals.
• Provides safe custody and care of inmates and safety of facility personnel.
• Trains staff and new hires; serves as Field Training Officer (FTO).
• Acts as Disciplinary Hearing Officer and adjudicates administrative disciplinary matters.
• On-call Duty Officer; conducts inspections on weekends/holidays as assigned.
