Job summary

Travis County Sheriff’s Office seeks dedicated Corrections Officers to ensure safety, security, and welfare within the jail environment. Entry-level officers operate under close supervision and advance after training and probationary milestones.

Salary progression is provided with opportunities to become part of specialized units and advance to Senior Corrections Officer roles based on experience and exams.

Qualifications

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be 20 years of age (21 for armed assignments).
• High school Diploma or GED.
• Must qualify with weapon annually per TCSO standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist Post Officers and perform duties away from post to ensure smooth operation.
• Procure supplies, deliver paperwork, respond to assistance calls.
• Assist with mail, commissary, laundry, and inmate counts.
• Escort inmates and visitors; monitor movement and programs.
• Maintain logs and secure equipment; report security breaches.
• Work shifts including nights, holidays, and weekends.
