Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, Texas TCLEOSE certification within one year, U.S. citizenship, and a valid Texas driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Possession of basic certification as a Corrections Officer (TCOLE) required within one year.
• Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of offenders in housing, visitation, and recreation areas.
• Monitor prisoner activity using CCTV, radios, and intercoms.
• Conduct cell searches and security checks; perform inmate headcounts.
• Respond to emergencies and manage incidents following policy.
• Distribute and supervise meals; manage food trays.
• Complete booking, release records, logs, and reports; document offender information.
• Dispense prescribed medications and document medication records.
• Administer basic first aid and CPR; use emergency equipment.
• Operate equipment such as computers, radios, central controls, and telephones.
• Attend meetings and training sessions.
