Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking Mental Health Specialists to provide high-quality care within an institutional setting. The role focuses on developing, implementing, monitoring and documenting individualized mental health treatment plans and services for inmates.

The candidate will work as part of a mental health team, performing screenings, assessments, and crisis interventions while maintaining strict confidentiality and collaborating with medical and security staff to ensure integrated care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social or behavioral science or closely related field.
• Minimum one year experience providing mental health or counseling services.
• Experience substituting education with relevant work may apply.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health screenings and assessments based on records and interviews.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, physicians, nurses and social workers.
• Develop, implement and modify individual treatment plans.
• Document treatment and evaluation activities in the health care record.
• Consult with multidisciplinary staff regarding behavior and mental health issues.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials at all times.
• Deliver appropriate counseling and crisis interventions as needed.
• Administer mental status exams or other tests to evaluate needs.
