Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a Corrections Masonry Trade Instructor to teach masonry and direct inmate work crews at the State Correctional Institution Laurel Highlands. You will guide inmates through structured lessons and supervised work assignments, ensuring safety and skill-building across classroom and job-site settings.

This role involves maintaining documentation, issuing materials, and supporting daily training schedules.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience laying brick, blocks and other masonry work, with mortar binding for walls or an approved apprenticeship.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training including one year of journey level masonry work.

Responsibilities

• Teach masonry practices in classroom and on-the-job training.
• Supervise inmate crews, assign tasks and inspect work performed.
• Record attendance, progress, and assignment details for training activities.
• Issue tools, track inventory, and conduct searches for materials and tools.
• Identify supplies and submit purchase requests for materials and tools.
• Maintain order and discipline to support a safe learning environment.
