Job summary

Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking an entry-level maintenance worker to perform basic maintenance tasks in a medium-security facility. You will use common hand tools and operate equipment such as mowers, forklifts, and trimmers, sometimes supervising offender workers under supervision.

The role requires the ability to lift heavy objects, work in varying weather, and follow safety practices. Training is provided on the job, with benefits included as listed by the department.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older with 1+ years experience or completion of a relevant technical training program or job certification.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, bend, reach, climb a ladder, and work in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance: painting building surfaces and equipment; patch plastering; carpentry on doors, windows, furniture, shelves and floors.
• Plumbing tasks such as unstopping toilets and drains; replace faucets/valves; repair leaks; maintain electrical motors/generators/communication equipment.
• Operate maintenance tools and equipment safely; may supervise offender workers and receive supervision.
