Job summary

Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections – Corrections Services in Angola, LA seeks a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee repairs of utilities, water systems, electrical, plumbing, and other building operations across 489 buildings and 3,424,522 sq ft.

You will coordinate trades, supervise inmates, and ensure safety and compliance in a 24-hour facility. This role requires experience in building trades and maintenance, with opportunities for advancement within the state system.

Qualifications

• Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience: Four years of experience in the building construction trades; maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; building construction; building maintenance; or construction, maintenance, or repair of roads or bridges.
• Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trades; maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; building construction; building maintenance; or construction, maintenance, or repair of roads or bridges.
• Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, engineering, or any combination of these courses plus two years of experience in the building construction trades; maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment; building construction; building maintenance; or construction, maintenance, or repair of roads or bridges.

Responsibilities

• Supervises all maintenance and repairs of utilities, sewer systems, water lines and valves, electrical appliances, electrical wiring, plumbing, security fences, gas lines and hookups, refrigeration equipment, and any other maintenance-related operation in the assigned area of responsibility.
• Electrical work including repair and installation of receptacles, transformers, wiring, and related equipment.
• Plumbing: installation of fixtures, gas lines, and related appliances.
• Carpentry: repairing roofs, doors, tiles, shelves, guardrails, and small buildings.
• Welding: maintenance and repair of water lines, gates, fences, and boilers.
• Masonry: laying brick and tile.
• Refrigeration: maintenance of HVAC systems, walk-ins, and related equipment.
