Job summary

Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections – Corrections Services in Angola, LA is hiring a Correctional Officer to enforce custody and security of inmates within a state prison facility. You will work closely with inmates and participate in security operations across dorms, workshops, and grounds.

The role requires completing a four‑week training academy and following department policies, with opportunities to advance within the Corrections Services and to contribute to public safety

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR
• One year of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

• Four week Correctional Officer Training Academy.
• Work closely with inmates incarcerated in a State prison facility.
• Primarily responsible for the custody and security of inmates – in facility buildings, prison dorms, workshops, and/or fields.
• Supervise housekeeping of inmate housing areas, escort prisoners, investigate suspicious activities, and perform in-depth security searches/shakedowns of inmate’s person, property, living quarters and work locations.
• Supervise inmate work crews, patrol areas of the prison, and transport inmates as assigned.
