Job summary

The South Dakota Department of Corrections seeks a Corrections Lieutenant for the Rapid City area. You will schedule and supervise correctional staff, enforce DOC policies, and oversee inmate activities to ensure security and safety during day and night shifts.

This full-time leadership role requires three years of corrections experience with supervisory duties or a related degree and appropriate training. Applicants must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, travel as needed, and pass

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible corrections experience working directly with offenders with at least one year in a supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Schedules correctional staff for all shifts to ensure security and safety of employees and offenders.
• Enforces Department of Corrections policies and institution IA's and procedures.
• Interviews staff and provides training and work direction.
• Performs performance reviews and completes performance documents.
• Maintains security by inspecting all posts for appropriate staffing and safety.
