Job summary

Somerset County ME is seeking a part-time Cook to oversee and perform food service operations at the Somerset County Jail. You will secure kitchens, supervise inmate workers, and ensure meals are prepared on schedule under the Food Service Manager's supervision.

The role requires knowledge of safety standards, ability to work in a high-pressure environment, and strong organizational skills. Requires a valid driver’s license and willingness to work varied hours on site.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a cook in a restaurant or similar setting.
• Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling techniques.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow recipes accurately.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to the menu and dietary requirements.
• Collaborate with the dietary department to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner.
• Assist in menu planning and recipe development.
• Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are followed throughout the food preparation process.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed.
• Assist with catering events and special functions as required.
