Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Parole/Probation Specialist in Bradenton to support community corrections by managing intake, processing offenders, and maintaining accurate offender records in OBIS. This role emphasizes data entry, coding, and verification of offender information, with responsibilities spanning sentencing documents, monetary obligations, and orientation coordination.

Note: This is not a probation officer position, and the role requires on-site work at the FDC

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day intake and processing of offenders placed or released on community supervision; ensure accurate data entry into OBIS.
• Interpret, code, and enter documents related to offender sentencing and monetary obligations into the CDC and OBIS databases; utilize tools like the Automated Correctional Task System and Felony Offense Coding Manual.
• Obtain, research, interpret, and verify offender data to establish initial computer records and assist in coordinating orientation programs.
• Screen criminal records information through NCIC/FCIC and other databases; prepare detailed prior records for new intakes.
• Develop, coordinate, and monitor community service work activities; assist with job needs and program assignments; ensure offender photographs for the department’s website.
• This is not a probation officer position.
