Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections seeks a CORRECTIONAL SENTENCE TECHNICIAN-F/C at Avon Park Correctional Institution in the Classification Department. The role focuses on ensuring accuracy of inmate sentencing records, updating commitment documents, and coordinating with legal and correctional staff to resolve discrepancies.

The position is on-site, requiring reporting to the FDC office and participation in a thorough background check.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Must pass a Level 2 background check (Chapter 435, Florida Statutes).
• U.S. citizenship or work authorization; E-Verify used.
• No H-1B sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Review commitment documents, update sentence information, and ensure correct release dates.
• Collaborate with Public Defenders, State Attorneys, Sheriffs, and Court Clerks to fix sentence documents.
• Identify and correct errors in inmate identification in OBIS.
• Review new commitments to assign inmate numbers and recalculate release dates.
• Document repeat offenders and update policies related to sentence structure.
