Job summary

The supervisor will prepare reports, perform Shift Lieutenant duties when needed, and work within the RHU. A strong background in corrections and completion of required SC Training Academy courses are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma and 18 months of relevant experience.
• A related Bachelor's degree may substitute for half of the required experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months.

Responsibilities

• Oversee security staff and inmate supervision in housing units.
• Conduct routine inspections for security, safety, and sanitation.
• Investigate alleged misconduct by inmates and staff.
• Assist in formal and informal inmate counts.
• Evaluate staff, counsel, and recommend disciplinary action; train subordinates.
• Prepare required reports.
• Perform Shift Lieutenant duties as needed.
• Assigned to Restricted Housing Unit (RHU).
