Job summary

Colorado Department of Corrections (Sterling Correctional Facility) seeks an experienced High School Equivalency instructor to deliver curriculum aligned with CDE standards. You will oversee the Cognitive Education Program and mentor inmates through targeted instruction and assessments.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and collaboration with staff to support reentry goals and compliant program delivery in a secure, state-run facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in an education related field.
• Must possess at least one credential: Colorado Initial/Professional Teacher License, ABE, or Colorado Interim Authorization.
• Out of state applicants must have an appropriate educator license and upload it with the application.

Responsibilities

• Teach and mentor inmate students individually or in group settings to promote academic performance.
• Determine educational needs and set short and long term goals for students.
• Develop and implement teaching aids and instructional materials; select and administer assessments to measure progress.
• Document student progress and maintain records of grades and attendance.
• Promote safety and security within the facility and participate in offender management as required.
