Job summary

The Department of Corrections seeks an Assistant Classification Officer at Maine Correctional Center in Windham.

Grade 17, hourly pay $20.94–$27.88 (includes $2.00 Career Stipend and $0.60 Institutional Stipend). Open Sep 8, 2026; Close Sep 22, 2026.

Responsibilities include interviewing residents, building case histories, data entry into the corrections master records system, and participating in the Classification Committee.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years’ experience in a correctional, detention, law enforcement, medical or institutional setting, or closely related field, which provided a knowledge of computerized management information system operations and requirements as it relates to managing client and/or patient information.

Responsibilities

• Interview incoming residents, take fingerprints, and gather identification data.
• Develop computerized case histories and other special reports.
• Input data into the corrections master records system to be used in the development of case histories for the Classification Committee, Probation and Parole Division, other correctional facilities, and law enforcement agencies.
• Compile data on residents for statistical reports.
• Oversee or take and record resident identification data.
• Compile, calculate, and record time adjustments to influence release dates.
