Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced accountant to perform professional accounting responsibilities, oversee accounts payable/receivable, and ensure compliance with state procedures. You will interpret financial data, monitor fund balances, and assist with budget preparation and cost allocation planning.

Requires at least three years in accounting, high school diploma or GED, and ability to supervise clerical staff.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in accounting (state government preferred).
• Experience interpreting and presenting financial data; knowledge of budgeting and cost allocation is a plus.
• Garnishments, contracts and grants familiarity is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform professional accounting responsibilities related to interpretation, processing, approval and presentation of financial data.
• Process and oversee accounts payable and receivable; monitor accounts and fund balances; ensure compliance with procedures and regulations.
• Review and approve processing of invoices, vouchers, adjustments, refunds and expenditures; investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
