Job summary

The State of Oklahoma is seeking a Unit Manager for Joseph Harp Correctional Center to supervise a multi-disciplinary staff and direct the operations of a semi-autonomous unit within the institution.

The role emphasizes administration, budget oversight, program development and coordination with other departments, with all work conducted on-site at the correctional facility.

Experience in correctional records management or related administrative roles is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of modern penological practices and public administration.
• Strong supervisory skills and ability to enforce rules impartially.
• Ability to make sound judgments in emergencies.
• Contract negotiation and procurement knowledge.
• Experience maintaining inmate records and managing programs.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and evaluates the performance of unit staff and provides on-the-job training.
• Coordinates unit operations with other institution programs and operations.
• Administers the budget work programs for the unit; procures equipment and supplies; negotiates contracts.
• Maintains and secures offender records for the unit.
• Serves as chairperson of the Unit Disciplinary and Classification Committee; may serve on other institutional committees.
• Liaises with courts, Pardon and Parole Board, and elected officials as needed.
• Submits reports to warden on incidents, food served, leisure activities, etc.
• Resolves emergencies with institutional administration and security personnel.
