Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience in correctional records management or social casework with offender management responsibilities.
• Substitution of a master’s degree for one year of the required experience allowed.
• Experience in administration position managing inmate records or related activities is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and evaluates unit staff; provides on-the-job training; monitors case management activities; maintains a clean, safe, humane and secure unit environment.
• Coordinates unit operations with other institution programs and operations.
• Manages budget work programs; procures equipment and supplies; negotiates contracts for food service and other needs.
• Maintains offender records and unit data; ensures compliance with regulations.
• Chairs Unit Disciplinary and Classification Committee; may serve on institutional Disciplinary Committee.
• Liaises with courts, Pardon and Parole Board, and elected officials.
• Submits periodic reports to warden and deputy warden on incidents, meals, leisure activities, and significant events.
• Collaborates with administration, security, and inmates to resolve emergencies and extraordinary correctional problems.
• Plans, develops and implements unit programs tailored to inmate needs; negotiates public works contracts.
