Job summary

Delaware Department of Correction Training Academy seeks a skilled Correctional Training Instructor to develop, deliver, and evaluate curricula and training resources for staff and cadets. You will present courses on inmate supervision, control tactics, report writing, and related laws, ensuring high standards of safety, discipline and rehabilitation.

Qualifications

Experience designing and delivering training programs with clearly defined objectives.
Ability to use diverse training methods including lectures, exercises, and videos.
Knowledge of evidence‑based practices and compliance with standards.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement and evaluate training programs, curricula and materials for the Training Academy.
Directly present courses including inmate supervision, control tactics, report writing and applicable laws.
Train and supervise staff, enforcing discipline, safety and rehabilitation principles.
Evaluate cadets, provide feedback and make performance recommendations.
Deliver classroom training using lectures, exercises and visual aids.
Research and select materials that promote effective learning and evidence‑based curriculum.
Assess course effectiveness and participate in policy review and SOP updates.
May conduct daily staff searches to ensure safety and security.
May manage budget, grants or contracts related to training programs.
