Job summary

The Lieutenant will work with training staff to focus on the security aspects of training for all new DOC staff, contract employees, volunteers, and current employees. The role involves developing and revising curriculum, certifying completion, and monitoring compliance with policy and procedures at the South Dakota State Penitentiary and department-wide.

Ideal candidates will manage Basic Training for new hires, create lesson plans, and maintain confidentiality of testing information and staff

Responsibilities

• Develop and write curriculum by researching and updating lesson plans, training aids and participant material to implement training techniques.
• Certify successful completion and monitor compliance with policy, standards and procedures.
• Manage new hire employees throughout the Basic Training process.
• Travel to training sites within or outside of the state to provide training.
