Job summary

Gateway Foundation in Cochran, GA, is seeking part-time Substance Abuse Counselors to join our correctional healthcare team. You will conduct client interviews, assess treatment history, and support individualized treatment plans within a correctional facility.

The role emphasizes group and individual counseling, relapse prevention, and collaboration to ensure continuity of care. A bachelor’s degree in a helping profession is required, with certifications obtainable within 24 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a helping profession (required).
• Some counseling experience preferred.
• Must obtain state certifications/licensures within 24 months or as required.
• Must be able to obtain Georgia Department of Corrections clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conducts client interviews and assessments to review substance use disorder and treatment history.
• Evaluates client response to treatment and assists with caseloads and treatment planning.
• Provides didactic group counseling, psychoeducation, and family education to support peer recovery.
• Delivers individual counseling and educational programs addressing relapse prevention and behavior modification.
• Maintains caseload up to 25 clients as per state/contract requirements.
• Develops discharge summaries and continuing care plans with supervisor approval.
