Job summary

Gateway Foundation, Inc. in Humble, TX is seeking a Cognitive Counselor (Master's Degree) to provide counseling within a residential correctional setting.

You will conduct client interviews, deliver group and individual counseling, and help develop individualized treatment plans. The role requires a Master's in counseling or related field, experience in forensic settings preferred, and the ability to work under supervision in a correctional facility.

Qualifications

• Masters in counseling, social work, criminal justice or a related field.
• Some experience in a forensic counseling setting or with substance abuse preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client interviews to review substance use history and treatment progress; adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Provide didactic group counseling, psychoeducation, and family education to support recovery.
• Deliver individual counseling and educational lectures on relapse prevention and pro-social skills.
• Coordinate caseloads and discharge planning with supervisor approval.
• Develop discharge summaries and aftercare plans with referral resources.
