Job summary

The State of Indiana is seeking a Correctional Sergeant at LaPorte Juvenile Correctional Facility. You will oversee training in emergency preparedness, manage safety for offenders and staff, and enforce policies with firm, fair leadership.

The role requires ensuring compliance with rules, responding to emergencies, and supervising teams across the facility. The position starts at $47,320 annually, with potential adjustments based on education and experience.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must test negative on all drug screenings.
• Working knowledge of correctional environment procedures.
• Ability to supervise and obtain results from offenders and subordinate staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Manage safety and security of the facility and offenders.
• Lead staff in security operations and meal deliveries.
• Escort offenders to and from locations within the facility.
• Provide feedback on offender movements and rule violations.
• Recruit, onboard, and train employees; set expectations and provide development.
