Job summary

State of Indiana's Correctional Industrial Facility in Pendleton is seeking a dedicated Correctional Sergeant to lead security operations, supervise staff, and ensure the safety of inmates, coworkers, and visitors. You will enforce IDOC rules, assign duties, and maintain accountability within a small facility.

A High School Diploma or equivalent is acceptable with at least 6 months in corrections or law enforcement, and a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must test negative on all drug screenings.
• Working knowledge of correctional methods and practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage offenders and supervise staff to maintain security and facility operations.
• Oversee offender movement, meals, and schedule adherence.
• Ensure offenders are escorted safely to locations for meals, medicine, work, and recreation.
• Review movements and rule violations, provide feedback, and enforce policies.
• Recruit, onboard, and train employees; set expectations and monitor performance.
• Ensure daily attendance and compliance with safety standards.
