Job summary

State of Indiana is seeking a Corrections Sergeant to supervise facility operations, offenders, and staff at Indiana Women’s Prison in Indianapolis. You will enforce rules, ensure safety, and coordinate security measures under IDOC policies with a focus on professional development.

Qualifications

• Experience in corrections, law enforcement, or military law enforcement preferred.
• Ability to apply policies and procedures consistently in a correctional setting.
• Willingness to complete mandatory training including supervisory courses.

Responsibilities

• Manage offender movement and secure meal delivery and chow halls.
• Lead staff to maintain security and safety of facilities, offenders and grounds.
• Escort offenders to and from locations for meals, meds, work, and recreation.
• Review movements, activities, and rule violations; provide feedback.
• Oversee security operations and aid in emergency response protocols.
• Recruit, onboard, train, and develop employees; set performance expectations.
• Ensure attendance at assigned worksite(s) as an essential function.
