Qualifications

• Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
• Meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302).
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Produce a negative drug screening result.
• Complete medical and psychological evaluations.
• Possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Supervising a shift of employees, conducting shift line-ups, making shift schedules, and inspecting personnel.
• Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, and custody forms.
• Reviewing logs, reports, and required documentation from shift rotations.
• Accounting for persons and funds to ensure equipment is operationally ready.
• Handling activities relating to the custody and welfare of offenders.
• Conducting inspections of offender living areas, medical and kitchen areas, and the facility.
