Job summary

State of North Carolina - Adult Correction is seeking a Correctional Sergeant I to supervise a shift, ensure security, and manage daily facility operations. You will oversee post assignments, process time reports, and maintain custody documentation in a high-security environment.

The role requires meeting Criminal Justice Standards, passing a background and drug screen, and holding a valid driver’s license. This is a full-time position with rotating shifts and state benefits.

Qualifications

• Must meet Criminal Justice Standards and pass a background check.
• Must be eligible for North Carolina CJ Standards certification.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass medical/psych evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a shift of employees, assign posts, and prepare shift line-ups.
• Complete and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, and custody records.
• Review logs, reports, and required documentation from shift rotations.
• Account for equipment and funds to ensure operational readiness.
• Oversee custody and welfare of offenders and enforce policy.
• Inspect offender living areas, medical and kitchen areas, and overall facility for safety.
