Job summary

State of Indiana's Putnamville Correctional Facility seeks a dedicated Correctional Officer to join a medium-security team in Greencastle. You will contribute to safety, security, and orderly daily operations, supporting programs and staff while enforcing policy and procedures.

You will work 12-hour shifts with emphasis on supervision, incident reporting, and effective communication with inmates and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must pass drug screenings and be willing to travel as needed.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; degree not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety of staff and inmates during 12‑hour shifts.
• Monitor assigned areas and ensure security of buildings and grounds.
• Follow established security procedures and document incidents.
• Escort inmates for meals, medications, work, and recreation.
• Keep movement records and reports on rule violations.
• Work overtime up to 16 consecutive hours as needed.
