Job summary

Dakota County is seeking Correctional Sergeants for the Jail Division, assigned to Operations, Programs or Administration. Sergeants supervise staff, coordinate schedules, and ensure adherence to jail policies and Lexipol standards.

Role requires leadership, decision-making and strong collaboration with division Captains and staff to maintain safety and security within the Dakota County Jail system.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree AND four years' experience as a Correctional Deputy or comparable experience; two years must be as a Correctional Deputy.
• Bachelor's Degree AND minimum two years' experience as a Correctional Deputy.
• An equivalent combination of education and comparable work experience to equal or exceed 6 years; two of those years must be as a Correctional Deputy.

Responsibilities

• Lead the assigned division with support from division Captains and staff.
• Ensure adherence to rules, regulations, policies and procedures by personnel.
• Provide leadership and scheduling within the division.
• Identify staff training needs and opportunities for development.
