Job summary

Qualifications

• Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state
• Active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
• Knowledge of nursing practice principles and safety standards
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Flexible schedule and overtime availability
• Ability to adhere to code of conduct and correctional policies
• Must pass facility background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

• Perform initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals
• Monitor and document patient health including vital signs and medical histories
• Provide direct patient care, triage, assess needs, develop care plans and coordinate services
• Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes
• Respond to medical emergencies and arrange timely transport to healthcare facilities
• Educate patients on preventative care and healthy lifestyle choices
• Follow correctional security protocols while collaborating with officers and healthcare staff
• Maintain accurate medical records and report relevant information
