Job summary

NaphCare is hiring a Psychiatrist to join our team at the Washoe County Jail in Reno, NV. As a Correctional Psychiatrist, you will oversee clinical responsibility for the mental health programs within the facility, working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.

You will evaluate residents, manage medications, oversee screenings, respond to crises, and assist with rehabilitation and community reintegration.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted Nevada psychiatrist license.
• Active DEA registration.
• ABPN board certification.
• Strong written and verbal communication and computer skills.
• Experience with underserved populations and substance use disorders.
• Ability to interpret data to inform treatment plans.
• Knowledge of applicable laws and facility policies.
• Pass criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health conditions.
• Manage medications and provide evidence-based treatment plans.
• Oversee mental health screenings performed by others.
• Respond to acute mental health crises within the facility.
• Support rehabilitation and community reintegration.
• Coordinate and lead educational training on mental health care.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal mandates and regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement treatment plans.
