Job summary

NaphCare, Inc. seeks a Correctional Psychiatrist to oversee mental health programs at Mendocino County Jail in Ukiah, CA.

You will perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnose conditions, and collaborate with correctional staff to ensure patients' mental health needs are met with dignity and respect. In this role you will lead treatment planning, coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, and ensure compliance with state and federal mandates while supporting patients' transition back

Qualifications

• Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Psychiatrist in California.
• A current DEA registration in State
• Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
• Be certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)
• Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills.
• Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders
• Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including other medical professionals, correctional staff and judges
• Ability to interpret and analyze data to create treatment plans
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
• Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
• Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

• Providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnosing mental health conditions for facility residents.
• Provide medication management, therapy, and evidence-based treatment plans.
• Oversee completion of mental health screenings and evaluations performed by others.
• Respond to acute mental health crises within the facility.
• Support rehabilitation and transition of patients back into the community.
• Coordinate and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care.
• Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans.
