Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and copy of certificate during hiring process.
• Applicants must be 19 years of age or older.
• BAT certification or Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university required during hiring process.

Responsibilities

• Stands watch in halls or wall towers to control inmate movement.
• Supervises groups of inmates on work details and in various areas; checks inmates in and out.
• Inspects quarters for safety, searches inmates and visitors for contraband.
• Maintains alertness, reports disturbances, inspects security equipment.
• Performs routine and unscheduled inmate counts and progress reports.
• Drives transfer vehicle and ensures safety equipment is functional.
• Explains rules and available services to inmates and assists with personal/professional guidance.
• Observes inmate behavior and submits evaluation reports.
• Instructs inmates in hygiene, discipline, and etiquette.
