Job summary

The State of Colorado is hiring a Correctional Officer I (CO I) for the Denver Complex. This role supports the safety and security of Colorado correctional facilities and prepares inmates for community reentry.

You will work with inmates in a locked facility, monitor access, and respond to emergencies while following established protocols. Position requires a high school diploma or GED and may include shift work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with inmates in a locked facility.
• Monitor and control access to the facility and restricted areas.
• Man an armed post (annual firearms certification).
• Escort and transport inmates in authorized state vehicles.
• Operate a variety of mechanical doors, security devices, equipment and alarms.
• Monitor facility perimeter and conduct room checks as assigned.
