Job summary

State of Colorado, Department of Corrections, seeks a Correctional Officer I for Rifle and Delta facilities to ensure safety, security, and orderly operations. The role supports reentry goals by maintaining discipline and compliance across the inmate population.

Responsibilities include monitoring movement, conducting counts, operating doors and alarms, and responding to emergencies. Willingness to work varied shifts and locations is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.; no H-1B sponsorship.
• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security of CDOC facilities.
• Directly work with inmates in a locked facility and monitor access.
• Operate security devices, doors, alarms and transport inmates in state vehicles.
• Conduct routine and emergency counts; document incidents and movements.
• Escort inmates, monitor visit areas, and respond to emergencies 24/7.
