Job description

This position is eligible for a $3,000 recruitment bonus.

In addition, the salary for this position is $24.00/hour, $1,920.00 bi-weekly, or $49,920.00 annually.

Correctional Officer Responsibilities

1. Observe incarcerated individuals' behavior and interactions with staff, other inmates, and visitors; document observations to ensure security and consistent application of change principles.
2. Interact with inmates using behavioral techniques to promote problem-solving, behavior change, and pro-social attitudes; provide positive reinforcement and corrective measures as needed.
3. Patrol facilities, conduct security checks, rounds, and inmate counts; inspect all areas for safety and security deficiencies.
4. Search inmates, vehicles, packages, equipment, cells, and property for contraband.
5. Instruct inmates on rules, policies, and expectations; assist in developing skills for successful adaptation and a pro-social lifestyle.
6. Escort inmates, visitors, and staff; verify possession of passes or legal documents.
7. Engage with the public, visitors, and victims, providing information, security, and assistance.
8. Role model respectful, pro-social behaviors, emphasizing dignity and the potential for positive change in inmates.
9. Maintain logs, prepare reports, and input data into the electronic record system.
10. Supervise inmate work assignments and evaluate performance.
11. Operate security and communication systems, including electronic doors, radios, alarms, CCTV, and control devices.
12. Attend training and professional development sessions.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Additional requirements include passing psychological tests, background checks, health screenings, drug tests, and completing required training. Some positions may require obtaining a Commercial Driver's License and endorsements within a specified timeframe.
